The Asscher cut is a step cut, which means it trades the scattered fire of a brilliant for long, clean flashes of light down what jewelers call a hall of mirrors. The effect is architectural rather than sparkly, and it is the reason the shape has never really left the vocabulary since the 1920s. Thirty-three of them run the length of this platinum band, matched at F color and VS1 clarity.
